GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Dr. John Rawls is retiring from the Florida CU Board of Directors on May 31 after more than 55 years of service.
Elected to the board in 1957, Rawls, 88, has served as president, vice president, secretary, chairman and treasurer of what is now a $480-million credit union. During a nine-month period, he also served as interim chief executive officer.
During his tenure, Rawls helped Florida CU grow from assets of $100,000. In 2008, the credit union named its corporate headquarters after him.
