SAN DIEGO - Arrowhead CU and Altura CU each donated $20,000 to the Inland Southern California Wildfire Relief Fund, part of $250,000 raised by the fund last week to help victims of the wildfires that have ravaged the region.
Credit union relief efforts continue to mount as hundreds of thousands of families were forced from their homes, and business and schools were evacuated throughout the week. Wescom CU announced a short-term, interest-free loan to finance disaster recovery. The credit union giant also plans to raise up to $50,000 for the American Red Cross.
San Diego County CU is raising disaster relief funds at its 25 area branches. Financial Service Centers Cooperative implemented its Emergency Shared Branching program, which provides all credit unions and their members a method to complete deposits and withdrawals at FSCC shared branch locations, regardless of whether they belong to the shared branch network. "Our goal is to help credit unions get through this devastating disaster, not to sign on new customers," said Sarah Canepa Bang, CEO of the shared branch network.
The California CU League is making contributions both to CUAid.coop and to the American Red Cross. CO-OP Financial Services is making a $25,000 contribution to the Red Cross Southern California Fire Relief Fund.
