MADISON, Wis. – A local couple, one described as a hardcore drug addict, were charged Tuesday in connection with nine area armed robberies, including two at Great Wisconsin CU. Jeffrey Dempsey, 29 and Amanda Green, 26, allegedly netted almost $38,000 in the robberies. Green told police she was a long-time heroin addict and robbed the banks because she needed the money to buy more drugs. Green was scheduled to appear in court last week, but had to be hospitalized as a result of heroin withdrawal.
