HOUSTON Cardtronics, the world’s biggest ATM operator, reported a 9% decline in first quarter earnings yesterday, to $9.1 million, even as transaction volume continued to grow.
The company, which operates more than 60,000 ATMs in the U.S., reported a 4% increase in first quarter revenue to $197.7 million, and a 9% increase in ATM revenue to $193.4 million.
First quarter highlights included: acquisition of i-design group plc, a Scotland-based developer of marketing and advertising software for ATMs; a new branding agreement with Frost Bank for ATM locations at Dallas Love Field airport; growth of the company’s Allpoint surcharge-free network to 55,000 surcharge-free ATMs worldwide; and, the expansion of bank branding relationship with Scotiabank through the branding of 500 existing Cardtronics ATMs in Mexico.
