EasCorp FCU Extends Mobile Deposits To Google’s Android

BURLINGTON, Mass. – EasCorp FCU, which pioneered mobile deposits over Apple’s iPhone last month, on Wednesday said it has introduced an application that will enable deposits over Google’s Android cell phone.

The Android app, developed by EasCorp’s wholly owned Vertifi Software LLC CUSO, is part of the corporate credit union’s DeposZip Mobile program. Credit unions that participate in the program also can offer mobile deposits over Motorola’s Droid and Google’s Nexus One devices.

Both software applications were developed by Vertifi as a plug-in to a credit union’s mobile banking service. The applications make use of the built-in camera to acquire the images, and image pre-processing and validation takes place on-device. Checks are processed electronically end-to-end through Vertifi, and deposits typically are posted to members’ accounts in real time with immediate access to check images.

DeposZip Mobile relies on the same administrative platform as the DeposZip desktop version, which was developed by Vertifi in 2007 as the first remote deposit capture service built for household consumers. It was made commercially available to and through financial institutions as a hosted service. Because DeposZip supports any scanning device with a native TWAIN driver, it is used interchangeably for business accounts with large, multiple check deposits.
