BEAUMONT, Texas – Education First FCU yesterday announced a sponsorship deal with Lamar University athletics in exchange for a $1 million contribution to the university.
The $265 million credit union has a long history with Lamar, having accepted its first university members a year after its 1952 chartering.
The credit union has had an office at Lamar since 1979, has been a corporate sponsor of LU athletics since 2004 and has endowed scholarships for students at the university since 1990.
Under the deal, the credit union’s name will be featured on the 50-foot by 24-foot digital scoreboard at the university’s Provost Umphrey Stadium. Education First’s sponsorship of LU athletics will also be acknowledged on marquees, video boards and in game-day publications.
