ANNISTON, Ala. – Police were searching yesterday afternoon for an escaped jail inmate they say robbed a downtown Fort McClellan CU branch yesterday morning.

The robber is believed to be Glasco Stephens, 34, an inmate at the Calhoun County Jail on his way to drug treatment at the county's nearby substance abuse center when he fled after exiting the bus.
Police said the robber showed tellers a note that said he was carrying a weapon, though no one reported seeing any weapon.
The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot.
