ROCHESTER, N.Y. ESL FCU paid a dividend to members totaling $7.25 million this month.
The payout went to more than 199,999 credit union members and 2,600 businesses. It represented the 17th consecutive year a dividend was paid since the former savings and loan became a credit union in Rochester.
Dividends are deposited directly into the accounts of eligible members, who represent about two-thirds of the credit union’s total membership. Each member’s average monthly balances of deposits and loans were added together and then multiplied by a percentage determined by ESL’s board of directors to reach that member’s share of the dividend.
