Ex- CU Employees Convicted of Identity Theft Loan Scheme

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – A former employee of Sperry Marine FCU pleaded guilty Tuesday to using members’ names to take out more than $83,000 in false loans from the credit union.

Taisha Hardy, 27, a former loan officer at the credit union, confessed to hatching the scheme with a co-worker Jessica Thomas, 26. Thomas pleaded guilty last year and was sentenced to 90 days home confinement.

Hardy is scheduled to be sentenced later this year.

The credit union lost about $83,500 on the scheme.
