ORLANDO, Fla. - (12/22/04) -- A former Rochester, N.Y., policeofficer and state insurance investigator pleaded guilty Monday to acheck-kiting scheme between his credit union and bank accounts.William King, 57, who spent 25 years as a police officer, then adecade as an insurance fraud investigator, pleaded guilty to onecount of bank fraud in federal court in Orlando, where he nowlives. King said he wrote so many checks to concealing hisescalating kiting scheme that between January 2002 and March 2004he moved as much as $10.8 million between his accounts at Rochester& Monroe County Employees FCU and Canandaigua National Bank.When bank officials found out about the scheme and stop honoringhis checks, King left the credit union holding the bag for $66,000.King has paid restitution to the credit union.
