Express CU, Union CU, Kunia FCU Tap CDFI Fund For $300K

WASHINGTON-The Community Development Financial Institutions Fund awarded 27 organizations, including three credit unions, almost $2.4 million of technical assistance grants.

The credit unions are: Express CU, Seattle ($99,963); Union CU, Spokane, Wash. ($100,000) and Kunia FCU, Waipahu, Hi. ($100,000).

Express CU will use its technical assistance funds to cover the personnel salaries and fringe benefits for two new staff members, acquire office supplies and postage for marketing materials, purchase new equipment, and assist with rent on a new location in order to better serve its target market.

Union CU will use its funds to hire new staff to manage a new financial education and loan program to be offered in union halls and for capital expenditures to add pneumatic tubes at the credit union branch.

Kunia FCU will use its grant procure a marketing consultant to develop a marketing plan, hire a marketing and outreach coordinator, translate marketing and financial education materials for Filipino customers, and purchase real estate mortgage loan software that will enable them to make home rehabilitation loans.
