Eye On The Competition: Redstone Bank Changes Name To Green Bank

HOUSTON - In a move that reflects its concerns for the environment, the $235-million Green Bancorp will rename its sole subsidiary from Redstone Bank to Green Bank. According to reports published in the American Banker, bank president Bob New said he and his executives could see that the general public was increasingly interested in the environment.

"We couldn't pick up a publication and not read about green," New told the Banker. "It stopped being a color and started being a way of life."

Green Bank will shift its marketing to the Internet to save paper and related costs and begin to design its branches to meet the Leadership in Energy and Environment Design standards, even eliminating drive-through lanes in future branches. Small details won't go unnoticed: they've even ordered new coffee mugs for employees so they won't be tempted to use paper or Styrofoam cups for the morning cup of joe.
