Famous TV Actor, National CU Spokesman, Dies

LOS ANGELES – Chad Everett, the handsome star of 1980’s TV series Medical Center, who starred in national ads for credit unions in the 1970's, died yesterday of cancer at 75.

Everett, who later had starring roles The Love Boat, Murder, She Wrote and Without A Trace TV series, was one of several celebrity spokespersons featured in advertising sponsored by CUNA’s National Advertising Program, which was supported by the nation’s credit unions and state trade associations. The advertising focused on the message, “Credit Unions: It’s Where You Belong.” Everett was featured in a 1973 TV commercial that proclaimed "Joing our credit union, it's where you belong.”

Everett's died Tuesday at his home in Los Angeles after a year-and-a-half-long battle with lung cancer.
