SHORELINE, Wash. – Police shot to death an armed robbery suspect and arrested a second suspect after they allegedly held up an Alaska USA FCU branch inside a Safeway supermarket yesterday afternoon.
The dead man is believed to be the so-called Fashion Faux Pas Bandit, the poorly-dressed assailant who has robbed as many as five area credit unions and banks in recent months.
After the hold-up, two witnesses followed the suspects’ getaway car to a parking lot about 10 blocks away and called police to the scene, according to police. When deputies arrived they were confronted by a man with a gun, and three deputies shot him.
The man died on the way to Harborview Medical Center.
Deputies used a stun gun to take the second man into custody. No officers are injured.
