FDIC CU Acquires Fannie Mae CU

WASHINGTON – Weeks after obtaining NCUA approval to serve Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac employees, The Partnership FCU, the credit union for the FDIC, said it will merge with Fannie Mae FCU.

The Partnership FCU, a $125-million credit union, is a product of a 2009 merger between FDIC FCU and NSF FCU, serving the National Science Foundation.

Fannie Mae FCU is a $16-million credit union that was chartered in 1971 to serve Fannie Mae employees, their immediate families, and retirees. After the merger, Helen Bunn, CEO of Fannie Mae FCU, plans to retire in 2013 after 40 years of service.
