Figure In RISDIC Crisis Is Killed

Joseph Bellucci, who was at the center of the crisis surrounding the former Rhode Island Share and Deposit Indemnity Corp. (RISDIC) as its chairman, was killed in an automobile accident. Mr. Bellucci was 72. Also killed were his wife and grandson. Bellucci was acquitted in 1992 of charges he attempted to cover-up the huge failure of the private insurance fund, which forced for a time the temporary closing of 45 credit unions. Witnesses had testified that Bellucci withdrew $50,000 after learning a CU in which he had deposits was insolvent and ineligible for federal insurance.
