‘Fill ‘Er Up,’ Desert Schools FCU Gives Away Free Gas

PHOENIX – Desert Schools FCU teamed up with three valley gas stations on Friday to give away 10 gallons of free gas to 150 members.

The credit union’s effort to ease some of the pain at the pump also was a moment to educate members on ID theft protection.

The first 50 members to show up at each of the stations to show their proof of Desert Schools membership, non-PIN purchase receipt, and valid driver’s license at any of the three locations received free gas.

The point of the non-PIN receipt is to cut down the risk of debit card skimming.

All other Desert Schools members received 10 cents per gallon off the posted gas price from 4-6 p.m., as well as a discount card good for five cents off per gallon on future gas purchases, $3.00 off any car wash, or 10% off oil and lube services or detailing.

The Member Gas Giveaway was just a part of Desert Schools’ year-long “Skip the Pin and Win” promotion.
