PITTSBURGH – A local woman is charged with stealing almost $8,000 from five local credit unions, sometimes while posing as a postal worker or substitute teacher.
Jodie Lizza, 50, set up fake accounts at several area credit unions, defrauding them out of about $7,800, according to police.
Lizza opened accounts with the Allegheny-Kiski Postal CU, Pittsburgh Central FCU, Tri-Boro FCU, Westmoreland Community FCU and Norwin Teachers CU, and used checks from closed accounts to establish new accounts between December 2008 and August 2009, according to police.
Lizza also is accused of creating two counterfeit checks drawn on fictitious accounts at Cincinnati Life Insurance Co. for $674 and Geico Insurance Co. for $1,287 to establish one account at Westmoreland Community FCU.
