YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio The Community of Faith CU, a credit union in the chartering stage, is soliciting financial commitments from 100 area churches in an effort to raise $150,000 that will qualify it for a $1.5 million non-member deposit from the Ohio CU League.

The Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance, Baptist Pastors Council and Community Mobilization are helping to organize the new credit union, which is being bolstered by as many as 50 local churches. The proposed field of membership is Youngstown and anyone who is part of a religious group.
Catholic Charities is funding a business plan for the proposed credit union.
