TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida and Alabama CU Leagues said they have entered into discussions about closer collaboration and even a potential merger.
The leagues stressed they are early in discussions about what the potential structure might be, but the goal is to achieve greater efficiencies at a time when the number of dues-paying credit unions at all credit union leagues has been shrinking. No timetable has been released.
The talks come at a time when the long-time CEOs of both leagues, Guy Hood in Florida and Gary Wolter in Alabama, have announced upcoming retirements.
