BIRMINGHAM, Ala. and TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Credit unions affiliated with the Alabama and Florida credit union leagues have voted in favor of merging the two to create the League of Southeastern Credit Unions.
Combined, the entity will represent 332 credit unions with total assets of $55 billion.
The plan now is to have each league board chairman become a member of the new board and to select seven directors from Alabama and Florida each to serve on the new board. The 16-member board will then elect a chairman from amongst them.
In addition, the newly created board will begin a search for the LSCU’s new CEO, immediately, as both Florida CUL CEO Guy Hood and Alabama CUL CEO Gary Wolter are planning to retire.
