Tran, 45, has been taken into custody, and further ordered to pay restitution of $997,675. Tran was found guilty of defrauding the credit union, which has since been liquidated, of approximately $1.3 million between 2000 and 2004, primarily using fraudulent loans to gain the funds. A portion of those funds was used to make payments on previously issued fraudulent loans, which is why the restitution amount is less than the amount stolen.
