Foundation Awards RCCU $150,000 Grant

The National Credit Union Foundation has awarded a $150,000 Callahan Grant Riverside County's Credit Union to assist Desert Empowerment Zone Partnership and the financial literacy programs involved. The Desert Alliance for Community Empowerment (DACE) and Riverside County's Credit Union have partnered to provide the people of Coachella Valley a credit union branch that speaks to the needs of their Latino population (CU Journal, Nov. 3).

"The cornerstone of this partnership is the Good Neighbor Services Program, a DACE umbrella organization developed to promote financial literacy, education and awareness to underserved communities within the federal designated empowerment zones," the credit union said. "The Good Neighbor Services Program will assist the credit union with addressing and educating local residents on a variety of banking needs, such as basic bill pay and banking services, in addition to citizenship and homeownership."
