CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Four local men were sentenced to prison Monday for their roles in string of armed robberies, including January’s theft of $313,000 from Commonwealth CU in Kankakee. The four were part of a gang of eight who robbed banks and other businesses, netting more than $420,000. The four other gang members pleaded guilty last year. The 28-year-old leader of the gang, Brad Williams, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
