APPLETON, Wis. – Fox Communities CU picked up an additional branch with its acquisition of Green Bay’s Sunrise CU, an ailing $20-million credit union.
Sunrise was chartered in 1951 by employees of Wisconsin Telephone Co. as Green Bay Telco CU. It merged with Fire Department CU, Unity CU and Moore Employees CU in 2009 and changed its name to Sunrise.
Sunrise reported losses for each of the past four years, including a $100,000 loss for the first six months of 2012 and net worth of 4.3% at mid-year.
Fox Communities, an $850-million credit union, will have nine branches in northeastern Wisconsin and Fox Valley counties.
