Freedom Federal Promotes COO MacPherson to CEO

BEL AIR, Md. — Freedom Federal Credit Union has made a permanent choice for its top leadership position.

The $288 million-asset credit union named Michael MacPherson president and chief executive after he served in these roles on an interim basis since October, it said in a press release.

He succeeds Rose Ann Lambert.

MacPherson has served as Freedom Federal CU's chief operating officer since March 2015 and senior vice president since 2010, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Since he joined the credit union in 2004, he has been responsible for commercial business services, branch operations, and marketing and business development. He has spearheaded effort to increase member service and satisfaction, enhance business development and product innovation, as well as improve processes and efficiencies, the credit union said.

Previously, MacPherson worked for 13 years with APG Federal Credit Union in Aberdeen, Md., serving as vice president of operations and business.

"Michael demonstrated his abilities to lead and guide Freedom into the future," Mike Kaiser, chairman of Freedom Federal CU, said in the release about MacPherson's time as interim CEO and president. "We are looking forward to his continued tenure with Freedom Federal Credit Union."

Freedom Federal Credit Union has more than 30,000 members.
