Grandma Got Runover By Katrina

Family members of one credit union executive here helped bring a little levity to an area in need of it.

The son of Navigator CU EVP Laurin Avera, Winston Avera, a high school sophomore, joined with some friends during the recent Christmas holidays to make some light-hearted music. Winston and friends re-wrote the lyrics to the popular Christmas song "Grandma Got Runover by a Reindeer" and titled it "Downtown Got Runover by Katrina."

Hundreds of copies of the lyrics were passed out during the holidays, he said.

"They were able to find some levity in all of this, which is important to me," he said. "It's important that we acknowledge that."
