Group Collecting Comments on Risk-Based Lending Proposal

WASHINGTON — A group of representatives from across the credit union spectrum has banded together as Credit Union Voices and will be hosting a booth at CUNA's GAC here next week allowing guests to comment on and submit letters regarding NCUA's revised risk-based capital proposal.

The group — which is online at creditunionvoices.com — is made up of service providers, vendors, leaders and others, and includes representatives from CU*Answers, Callahan & Associates, Card Services for Credit Unions, NACUSO and more, according to a PR rep for the group.

"We seek to provide information and education that encourage the credit union community to speak up on behalf of the 100 million-plus people who rely on their financial cooperatives for affordable loans, fair-market savings rates and other cost-effective financial products [and] services from the institutions they own," the group said in a statement.

Participation in the group is open to any credit union, trade group, media outlet, regulator, legislator or other supporter, and more comment letters and information is available at the group's website.

CU Voices is intended to go beyond just RBC2, however, and organizers hope the site can serve as a gathering place for a range of credit union opinions on any major issue that comes before the movement in the future. The group hopes to get at least 200 comment letters for NCUA during GAC.

Credit Union Voices will be in booth #162 at the GAC Exhibit Hall.
