ST. PAUL, Minn. – A man who allegedly held a gun to a Heartland CU teller’s head and forced her to load a bag with $18,600 cash last month was indicted yesterday on armed robbery and firearms charges.
Samuel Ewing, 29, was identified as the gunman who went into the credit union around 10:20 am on March 26 and put a gun to a female employee's head, saying, "Get up and walk that way."
The gunman kept the gun on the woman as they walked to a counter, where she put the money in a bag. The robber then walked out of the building and fled in a Dodge pickup truck.
A police officer on patrol spotted Ewing leaving in the truck, which he crashed, then tried to flee the scene on foot. After a brief chase, the officer caught Ewing and recovered a bag of cash and a loaded silver 9-mm semi-automatic handgun.
