MAUI, Hawaii - (11/21/05) -- Kula Community FCU has come up witha unique project to help its members deal with the high cost ofliving on this remote Hawaiian island. The credit unions isplanning to build its own senior citizen housing project. The 36rental apartments would be reserved for members of the credit unionor people who live within its field of membership, the communitysurrounding the Kula Post Office. The apartments will be gearedtowards seniors who live independently. Each of the units wouldhave 686 square feet of living space and access to a 3,500square-foot community/recreation center. The credit union is alsoinvolved in other projects to help with the high cost of islandliving.
