Hearing Likely This Week For Two Nominees

The Senate Banking Committee plans to hold a hearing on the two nominations for the NCUA Board this week, in an effort to fill out the three-member panel as soon as possible. The two candidates, Republican Rodney Hood and Democrat Gigi Hyland, are widely expected to be approved by the committee, then by the full Senate soon afterwards.

Meantime, NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson was scheduled last week to conduct her first monthly meeting of the NCUA Board as the sole panelist. Chairman Johnson scheduled a brief agenda for her solo-meeting, and was expected to approve a new rule allowing large credit unions to self-insure for losses.
