HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, BEDFORD, Mass. — Members of the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Employees Federal Credit Union, a $6.4-million institution, approved a proposed merger into Hanscom Federal Credit Union, a $1.1-billion entity here, effective July 1.
Wilmington, Mass.-based Houghton Mifflin FCU was founded in 1957 to serve the employees at Houghton Mifflin, a Boston-based book publisher. The credit union will continue to operate as a separate entity until integration of the systems is completed on Oct. 1. Its office in Wilmington will remain open until Houghton Mifflin's planned closure of its operations at that location.
"We are delighted to welcome over 1,000 members, as well as three staff members, to the Hanscom FCU family," said Paul Marotta, chairman of the board for Hanscom FCU, in a statement. "We are looking forward to offering our products and services to them, as well as our network of branches and CO-OP shared branches around the country."
