A new study sponsored by CUNA Councils suggests that credit unions would be better served if human resources departments worked directly with C-suite executives.
The study, titled "Organizational and Development Metrics: Strengthening HR's Strategic Approach," argues that human resources, training and organizational development divisions should be considered strategic to a CU's mission, the same as chief executives and chief financial officers.
The paper asks, among other questions, whether human resources and organizational development departments could effectively demonstrate how people issues affect the bottom line, and if so, would their efforts be more persuasive to the credit union's top leaders.
Several CU leaders' thoughts and insight are included in the study.
The study was sponsored by two CUNA Councils, the CUNA HR & Organizational Development Council and the CUNA CFO Council.
