Indiana Members Raises $73K To Help School Kids

INDIANAPOLIS – Just in time for the start of a new school year, Indiana Members Credit Union has raised more than $73,000 in its school supply campaign that will provide 3,500 backpacks and school supplies to underprivileged children.

The funds were raised following branch promotions at IMCU’s 24 branches, as well as donations from the CU’s annual “Bowl-A-Thon” employee fundraising event, IMCU Rummage Sale, and annual fundraising Golf Open, which benefits the Indiana Members Foundation. Enough funds were raised for IMCU to donate more than 87,500 supplies, which included backpacks, erasers, pencils, calculators, crayons, markers, notebooks, pens, art boxes, pencil sharpeners, rulers, paper, scissors, folders, colored pencils and glue sticks.

IMCU employees volunteered their time to fill the backpacks at their “Stuffing Party” on a Sunday, and then disbursed 2,000 of the backpacks filled with school supplies during a live distribution in partnership with Indy BackPack Attack. Children were able to receive a free backpack during the event when accompanied by an adult.
