SAN FRANCISCO – Two men pleaded guilty last week to robbing Pacific Postal CU of more than $76,000 last August with the help of one of the suspect’s niece, who had worked at the credit union.
Sefo Sagote, 27, and his niece, 20-yera-old Angelica Sagote, a former credit union employee, pled guilty last Thursday, and Elisara Taito, 26, pled guilty in December for their roles in the summer hold-up.
The Aug. 6 heist followed an unsuccessful robbery by the same suspects two days earlier which was thwarted when alert tellers locked the so-called bandit barrier, preventing the thieves from entering.
While investigating that robbery, authorities learned that Angelica Sagote had been fired over $572 that went missing from her teller drawer. One of the suspects resembled a relative of hers, witnesses said.
Two days later the credit union was robbed by two armed men who forced a pair of tellers to open the vault and made off with $76,300.
