ESTHERVILLE, Iowa – One Employees CU member’s dream of buying her own home became reality as Christy Mart became the first Iowa credit union Individual Development Account saver to use her funds to purchase a home.

Mart had her savings matched by $4,000 through the Iowa CU Foundation’s IDA program, which she was able to use on the down payment of the home. As a part of this program, she also receives financial education at her credit union.
Employees CU is one of nine Iowa credit unions in the Credit Union Family Partnership IDA Program providing matching funds for IDAs. The matching funds come from Iowa Foundation, funded by private and federal grants.
