Iowa's CCCU To Participate In Launch Of Quarter

Community Choice Credit Union has been selected as the financial institution partner for the state's commemorative quarter launch on Sept. 3 at the state capitol. Iowa is one of only a few of the 29 states in the U.S. Mint's 50 State Quarters Program to have a CU participate in the launch, and the league is also partnering with the governor's office to sponsor the launch event.

"Iowa's credit unions are honored to be a part of this significant event in our state," said Patrick S. Jury, VP with the Iowa league.

Community Choice CU will be on hand at the launch event so attendees can exchange cash for the new coins on site. CCCU will also be offering $10 Iowa quarter rolls at its branches while supplies last.

As part of the Iowa quarter striking ceremony July 12, a representative from the Iowa league was invited to be part of the small Iowa delegation that was invited inside the United States Mint at Denver as the new Iowa State Quarter was ceremoniously struck by each participant.

The Iowa quarter design features a one-room schoolhouse with a teacher and students planting a tree, and the inscriptions "Foundation in Education" and "Grant Wood." The design was inspired by Arbor Day, a painting by Grant Wood, who was born near Anamosa, Iowa.
