John Deere Community Credit Union has chosen a new name: Veridian Credit Union.
The credit union said the name is drawn from the words "verdant," meaning green and growing, and "veritas," or truth. Its new logo uses color green to tie it to its original sponsor Deere & Company, and highlights the letters "ia," in the name to signify its relationship to Iowa.
The new name will go into effect Jan. 1, 2006. The credit union was forced to choose a new name when the sponsor, Deere & Co., requested the change be made so as not to give the impression it is a subsidiary of the company. Weber Marketing Group, Seattle, assisted in the name change.
