MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. – Kennedy Space Center FCU has partnered with University High School in Orange City to open a working branch of the credit union on the campus.
The credit union said the branch will give students in the school’s Academy of Finance real-world experience in the operation and management of a credit union.
The branch will be open Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the school’s lunch periods, and it will be run by students. A credit union representative will supervise the operations, but students will do the work, including opening accounts. In the process, they learn about banking.
The students will earn both volunteer hours and internship credits for their work at the branch.
