Latest Effort In Maine To Fight Hunger: The Food Mobile

The Maine Credit Union's Campaign for Ending Hunger has partnered with the Good Shepherd Food Bank here to put on the road Maine's first ever "Food Mobile." As part of the ceremony, the Maine Credit Unions' Campaign for Ending Hunger presented a check for $15,000 that will provide the food for the truck's visits to all 16 Maine counties. The Food Mobile is a truck that can transport more than 7,000 tons of food to food pantries across Maine. The truck's first stop after the ribbon-cutting ceremony was at the Saco Food Pantry in Saco.

On hand for the unveiling was Rep. Michael Michaud the only credit union board member currently serving in Congress, who called Maine's credit unions "people who care about their communities beyond financial services, and that is truly unique."

Since 1990 the Maine Credit Unions' Campaign for Ending Hunger has raised over $1.75 million to help end hunger in Maine.
