Literacy Summit Expects Crowd

Backers of the first-ever California Summit on Financial Literacy are estimating that several hundred financial service professionals will turn out here for the event this week.

The summit's goal is to "gather together California's and the nation's thought leaders in personal finance education to assess the state of financial literacy in California, create a vision of a more financially literate state, and provide solutions to fight financial illiteracy," according to its organizers, which include the California Jump$tart Coalition, the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, the California CPA Education Foundation, and the CalCPA Institute. Sponsors include the AICPA Education Foundation, Citigroup, Patelco Credit Union, RMJ Foundation, and Schwab Foundation.
