Loan Demand Slack For Community Development

NCUA made a single loan from its community development revolving loan fund last month, only the fourth granted by the fund through the first eight months of the year. Last month's loan of $290,000 went to Weld Community FCU of Greeley, Colo.

NCUA officials said the low loan rates and flush liquidity in the credit union system have eased demand significantly for the fund's 2% loans this year. The fund made 11 loans for a total of $2.1 million through the first eight months last year.

The NCUA development fund also awarded 97 technical assistance grants for a total of $197,384 through the first eight months of this year.
