Longtime CEO of Elements Financial in Indiana to retire

Lisa Schlehuber, longtime chief executive of Elements Financial, a federal credit union in Indianapolis, is planning to retire this year.

The $2.1 billion-asset credit union announced that Schlehuber, who was first appointed as CEO for Elements in 2005, will step down April 15. Whitney Anderson-Harrell, who was most recently chief community development officer at the $6.8 billion-asset Michigan State University Federal Credit Union in East Lansing, Michigan, will join Elements Financial as Schlehuber's successor on Feb. 24.

“Lisa has led Elements with inspirational leadership throughout her 17 years and has driven the organization to broaden perspectives and strengthen relationships with our members, employees and partners … we are immensely proud of her accomplishments, and we thank Lisa for her years of dedication to Elements," Mark Saltsgaver, chair of Elements’ board of directors, said in a press release Wednesday.

In addition to her role at MSUFCU, Anderson-Harrell has also held positions on the boards of the African American Credit Union Coalition (AACUC), MLK Commission of Mid-Michigan and United Way.

"As an inclusive leader, I am focused on innovation and growth. … Elements is a successful credit union, and I look forward to seeing where the future can take us," Anderson-Harrell said in the release.

Last year, Elements assumed the majority of the deposits of the $6.4 million-asset Indianapolis’ Newspapers Federal Credit Union after it was liquidated by the National Credit Union Administration.
