Lora Benrud Takes The Reins At WESTconsin CU

WESTERN, Wis. — WESTconsin Credit Union on Thursday named Lora Benrud as the new CEO of the $907 million CU.

Benrud, who was previously chief financial officer, was selected by WESTconsin's board of directors to replace recently retired CEO Greg Lentz, who worked at the credit union for 40 years.

Benrud brings 30 years of experience at WESTconsin Credit Union to the position, along with her bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration. Benrud began working for WESTconsin as a part-time teller in 1984 while attending graduate school.

She presently serves on the boards of Stepping Stones of Dunn County and the Western Wisconsin Chapter of the American Red Cross.

"I have enjoyed working with Greg and look forward to leading WESTconsin Credit Union in its mission to be the best we can be for our members, employees, and communities," Benrud said in a prepared statement.

In its most recent call report, the $907 million CU posted more than $5.6 million in net income in the first half of this year. Its net worth ratio as of June 30 was 10.82% ("well capitalized").

In 2013 WESTconsin had more than $9.5 million in net income, after paying $563,126 to the Temporary Corporate CU Stabilization Fund. Its net worth ratio was 10.62% ("well capitalized").

WESTconsin CU was chartered in 1939. Membership is open to anyone who lives or works in the Wisconsin counties of Barron, Buffalo, Burnett, Chippewa, Clark, Dunn, Eau Claire, Jackson, Pepin, Pierce, Polk, Rusk, St. Croix, Sawyer, Taylor, Trempealeau, and Washburn, or the Minnesota counties of Anoka, Chisago, Dakota, Goodhue, Isanti, Ramsey, Wabasha, and Washington.
