LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Police FCU, one of the nation’s few surviving single-sponsor credit unions, yesterday said it donated $90,000 to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and its related organizations in 2007.
The donations benefited more than 61 LAPD-affiliated programs and events. Among them were: the LAPD Historical Society’s Annual Jack Webb Awards dinner, which honors community leaders; the Los Angeles Police Revolver and Athletic Club’s Baker to Vegas Relay Race; Los Angeles Police Protective League’s Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament; Los Angeles Police Foundation Medal of Valor Luncheon, which honors heroic acts of LAPD officers; LAPD Peer Counseling Program; and National Police Week.
In addition to its sponsorship program, the credit union provides individual donations to officers and their families who are in need as a result of injuries, death or health-related issues.
