Louisiana league launches CU Perks rewards program

The Louisiana Credit Union League announced that it has launched a shopping rewards program called “CU Perks” designed for both members and credit unions.

Formed in partnership with Retail Benefits, an online deals provider, members can earn up to 40 percent by shopping at the same stores where they are shopping at now. In addition, credit unions will be able to receive rewards from purchases made by their members.

The program is available to all members of credit unions affiliated with LCUL.

The CU Perks platform allows members to browse and make purchases from thousands of online retailers through the website or mobile app. Rewards granted to members are then automatically posted to their accounts in one to seven days, and can then be viewed on their personal dashboard. The program's platform will pay members directly with credit unions’ earnings to be distributed by the League annually.

Retail Benefits has formed partnerships with thousands of retailers to offer Louisiana credit union members cash back on their online shopping activities. Louisiana credit unions are automatically enrolled in the program with no cost to participate.

Steven Liberto, LCUL

"As we designed CU Perks, our goal was to take the value of credit union membership to the next level,” said Steven Liberto, LCUL's chief administration officer, in a statement. “We know the benefits of being a credit union member, and this program just reinforces it… Not only will members earn CU Perks for shopping online, but credit unions will earn extra rewards on top of that."

Lacey H. Weaver, LCUL

Lacey H. Weaver, VP of communication & public relations at LCUL, said the league tested this program in-house before publicizing it.

“League staff were excited to see their account build up by simply making purchases they were already making," she said. "The idea of CU Perks demonstrates our drive for innovation, empowering credit unions with the necessary tools to better serve their members in an ever-changing technological environment.”
