M&F Worldwide Builds Harland Business Line

NEW YORK – M&F Worldwide, which last year acquired John H. Harland Co., yesterday said it has agreed to acquire the data management business of Pearson plc for $225 million.

Data Management is the Pearson business that designs, manufactures and services scannable data collection products, including printed forms, scanners and related software. It will be combined with Harland’s Scantron business.

M&F, which is controlled by corporate raider Ron Perelman, also has acquired the Clarke American check printing business and combined it with Harland’s check printing operations, making it the largest check printer in the world.
