Maine CU League names new president/CEO

The boards of the Maine Credit Union League and its subsidiary, Synergent, announced that they have selected Todd Mason as president and CEO of both organizations.

Mason will succeed John Murphy, who is retiring in June after serving 25 years as the president and CEO of the Maine CU League and Synergent.

Mason is currently the chief strategy officer for RouteOne, an indirect automotive lending technology company. Prior to that, he worked for 19 years at the Michigan Credit Union League and Affiliates, where he served in various capacities, including vice president of technology, education and marketing.

According to his RouteOne profile, Mason earned a master's of business administration from the University of Phoenix. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature from Oakland University.

“We believe [Mason] is very much aligned with our values, culture and shared vision for our organizations,” Rich LaChance, chairman of the board for the Maine league, said in a statement. “His extensive leadership experience, with both a technology organization and working with innovative credit union trade association services, allows Todd to bring unique skills to our organizations.”

Mason himself said his vision is to build on Murphy’s legacy and to help credit unions “be at the right place, at the right time with the right services, wherever member financial decisions are made.”

His focus, Mason added, will be on “delivery of innovative technologies to help credit unions serve their members as well as excellence in advocacy, strong governmental affairs, and providing timely education and information.”
