Maine CUs Mourn Iraqi BombVictim

WESTBROOK, Me. - (12/27/04) -- Last week's suicide bombing of theU.S. Army mess hall in Mosul, Iraq was especially painful forMaine's credit unions because it claimed the life of Sgt. LynnPoulin, the credit unions' liaison with the 133rd EngineerBattalion. Sgt. Poulin, of nearby Freedom, was a long-time memberof Five County CU, in Bath, who helped organize the outreach oflocal credit unions to the fighting unit. That included OperationPhone Home, donating calling card minutes so soldiers could callhome; and the contribution of snackfoods, toiletries, games andsupplies to soldiers in the 133rd. Poulin reciprocated by sendingstuffed camels from Iraq to tellers and loan officers at FiveCounty CU. The credit union has created a memorial fund in hername.
