Maine Education CU Plans Branch in Capital’s Tech Center

AUGUSTA, Me. – Maine Education CU is working with city officials on a plan to build a credit union branch in the Capital Area Technical Center.

The credit union branch will be a centerpiece of Tech Center’s new Business Careers Academy, which will teach students how to start their own businesses or work in the banking industry; as well as the basics of financial literacy, such as how to balance a checkbook or apply for a loan.

The branch to be built just off the lobby at Tech Center, which is attached to Cony High School, and will be a full-service facility. It will be open to the public.

The credit union will pay the cost of constructing the branch, estimated at $100,000.

The credit union currently has two branches, both in Augusta.

CATC takes students from eight area high schools.
